ECA Horizontal Well Spud in Montana

The ECA Federal #1-H, a horizontal well targeting heavy oil in the Greybull sandstone, was recently spud in Stillwater County, Montana. A 2000' lateral will be drilled to a total depth of 6,012' MD / 3,840' TVD. Currently, a pilot hole is being drilled to test possible gas in the Frontier (2390' to 2775' MD), and will later be used to core 120' in the Greybull. Upon completion, a progressive cavity pump will be used to lift oil to surface, at which point it will be blended on location and trucked to the refinery in Billings, Montana.
